Hope's Haven Counselling

Guiding Wisdom. Embracing Community. Offering Refuge.

Hi, I’m Stacey Zimmermann—a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Langley, BC. Welcome to my blog!

Honestly, I never pictured myself as someone who would start a blog—but here I am, creating a space to encourage, bring hope, spark reflection, and maybe even offer a little joy along the way. My hope is that while you’re here, you’ll take a moment to explore some thoughts and insights that come straight from the counselling chair.

This blog is meant to be a window into what it’s like to be a counsellor—and just a fellow human—in a world that’s feeling increasingly noisy and overwhelming. If it brings you perspective, peace, or even a small sense of connection, then it’s done what I hoped it would.

A bit about me: I recently opened a counselling clinic in the Murrayville community of Langley alongside my wonderful colleague, Jeanne. We share a deep passion for making counselling accessible and creating spaces where people feel truly seen and supported. We love people—and we love their stories.

My own path to this work wasn’t a straight line, most paths rarely are. It was long, winding, and filled with both beauty and pain. There were times that felt impossibly hard and hopeless, but looking back, I can see that those seasons shaped my ability to sit with others in their pain and hold space for them when they feel like they can’t hold it for themselves.

Mental health has thankfully become more visible in recent years, and while that’s helping to reduce stigma and shame, I think there’s another layer that needs highlighting: the normalcy of struggle. So many people are carrying something—whether it shows on the outside or not. And sometimes, the tools we need to cope just aren’t within reach. That’s where counselling comes in.

Counselling offers a space—a rare one in today’s world—where you can wrestle with things, be real, be challenged, grow, explore, question, cry, laugh, and yes, even yell. It’s a space where you’re allowed to just be, and where healing can begin. I consider it an incredible privilege to walk with people through this process. Every day, I’m humbled by the courage and resilience of those I work with.

I’ve been the client too. I’ve sat on that couch, searching for the right fit—wondering if I’d ever feel truly seen or heard or understood. When you do find the right counsellor, it’s powerful. There is something that shifts in the environment that says this is the right space and the right person for this work to begin.. You can feel it. And believe it or not, so can we. That connection is at the heart of good therapy. But finding that right fit can take time.

I always tell new clients: Not every counsellor is for every client—and that’s okay. I say this because I’ve seen too many people give up on counselling after one mismatch, thinking it’s not for them. Please don’t let one off experience keep you from the support you deserve. If I’m not the right fit, that’s totally okay. I’m not meant to be for everyone. My heart is simply to offer support to those who need it and to help people find their way back to hope.

And that’s where Hope’s Haven Counselling begins.
